strength and power, endurance and perseverance, symbolizes
the Buddhist might. Kalika the lohan was an elephant
trainer-turned-Buddhist monk who had earned sufficient
merits to attain enlightenment. In memory of his former
profession, he is often portrayed with an elephant.
