News at buddhanet.net

BuddhaNet has been servicing the Buddhist community for about 16 years. So at the start of 2010 we have giving the front page a facelift, which is the start of eventually updating the whole site to improve the navigation and ease of use.

Our ongoing project for the past two years has been the World Buddhist eLibrary, which now includes substantial Chinese language content. We also would like to include other Asian and European languages as well.

We invite Buddhist organistions or individuals to contribute their digital content as PDF documents, Audio as MP3 or Videos as Flash files.

Buddhist organisations are welcome to join the Buddhist eLibrary on a partnership basis, please contact the Buddhist eLibrary webmaster Ven. Pannyavaro.

We are still in a dilemma regarding the BuddhaNet box server in Sydney, which crashed due to a hardware problem as long ago as May 2008. While the old server is still up and running it is rather fragile due to old age - it is about 7 years old - so we need to replace it as soon as possible - can you help us please?!

Also we have lost BuddhaNet's main sponsor of many years, while be are grateful for the support it has left us financially in difficulty. So if you can help us to keep this free service up and running, please consider a donation towards the cost of a new box server for BuddhaNet.

With appreciation / Ven. Pannyavaro (webmaster)

World Buddhist Directory

The World Buddhist Directory Database

The World Buddhist Directory database will greatly enhance search functionality and provide a range of statistics on Buddhist Organisations world-wide, as well as speeding up the addition of new entries and making any changes to existing ones. An email will be sent to all current organisations listed in the directory providing a web page where their existing entries can be updated for the new database format.

We ask Buddhist organisations and centres world-wide to check their directory listing/s for accuracy and/or come up with new listings in their locality. There are online forms for each region. This is a service that will benefit the growth of the Buddha Dharma world-wide - please help us to help you - it is a free non-sectarian service supported entirely by the generosity or Dana of the World Wide Buddhist Sangha - to make a much appreciated secure donation, click here.
